It's 2071. After a terrorist attack on Mars, a deadly virus is unleashed, and the government has set up the greatest reward in history to find the perpetrator. Spike, Faye, Jet, and Ed, the bounty hunters from the starship Bebop, accept the case. And they aren't the only ones after Vincent, the guy responsible.
Soon after the final episode of Cowboy Bebop aired, Sunrise Productions began work on the Cowboy Bebop movie, "knockin' on heaven's door," based on the series. Cowboy Bebop attempted to appeal to both fans and newcomers by lengthening halfway through to a two-hour film instead of the originally planned 90 minutes.
